That’s why very few people on the planet have the courage to do it. To coin a phrase by Henry T Ford.
Communicating a melody (accurately) through the word.
Making sure your articulators (teeth, lips and Tongue) are synergistically working together with your resonators (mouth throat and nose, area), so the words in your song can be understood.
Creating the correct timbre using your resonators, so your sound is not too tinny or muffled, so people can appreciate your sound.
Making sure the tempo is appropriate for your song.
Making sure the tempo is at a good pace for your audience.
Making sure the correct emotion is conveyed in your song.
Making sure you are breathing correctly for phrases, words and tempo.
Making sure your emotional state is ready to deliver your song.
Here are 3 POWER TOOLS to remember before you sing a song in front of an audience.
1. CLEAR YOUR HEAD
Close your eyes and imagine you are standing in front of your audience, but instead of visualising you as your normal self, imagine you as the ‘hero’ you admire.
If your hero is Superman or Wonder simply stick your head on their body. Visualisation is an important ally to fill you with confidence. It is also important to empty your head from any negative thoughts or feelings of yourself so the confident ‘You’ can emerge.
2. SING TO THE FRIENDLY AUDIENCE IN YOUR HEART.
When you are successfully singing in your head to a receptive audience, this powerful thought sends your body into a STATE OF CALM.
"Control your mind and you control your environment."

People often rush into singing out loud before they have confirmed the sound in their head (sound confirmation). Before singing out loud I recommend you do the following:
BREATH slowly.
LISTEN to the chosen key you are singing your song in your head.
THINK about the melodic approach of the first line.
REPEAT a few times in your head.
RELAX and sing out with the intention to deliver to a location in a room, or a person (whichever one you feel comfortable with).
CELEBRATE the achievement you have made by getting the sound from your mind to outside of your head.
Remember, Repetition produces results. Learn to forgive yourself when you make a mistake, and know that every time you repeat this process your chances of confident singing increases.
